My Story

I started my journey about ten years ago this year. Let me tell you how much of an adventure this has been. Once upon a time, I began my track career as a distance runner...and if you know me, you would tell me now that I was a little crazy! I was always running 800 meter races and sometimes even the mile. I spent my first two years as a long distance athlete working toward endurance, long runs, and controlling the lean muscle development. I struggled immensely trying to keep up with the people who were true distance runners. I could barely keep up, I would be out of breath before everyone else would, and I would have a hard time enduring the regular pain of the long distance runs. At one point, I began thinking about quitting track altogether...until one day I saw a gorgeous beam of light glaring off of the medal stands of an object I hadn't given two thoughts about before. Never did I think that I would be able to be a hurdler, nor become a sprinter for that matter. I knew for some reason that this was something that I needed to pursue. So, I ran toward the hurdle, attempted a semi-decent approach and...completely fell on my face. From that moment on, I knew that I wanted to be the best hurdler in my community, the state of Utah, and eventually the best in the Big Sky Conference. I worked tirelessly every single day building my passion and loving every minute of my training. I have given my whole heart during each of my practices, made time for the extra work, and made track and field my number one priority. Because of the hard work and determination, I have broken records at Wahlquist Jr. High school, Fremont High school, and also at Weber State University. I was given a full tuition scholarship to Weber State University among many offers to various universities. Since my time at Weber State, I have become the strongest and fastest athlete I have ever been. I plan on continuing my passion to become a professional athlete one day and work toward my dream of becoming an Olympic athlete, representing the United States of America. I will not stop until I reach my goals and I will not let any form of adversity stop me.
