Civitas is a community engaged scholar program at Weber State University that helps students integrate community engagement into our higher education experience.

Civic Values

Involves having a disposition to the world that understands the need for civic engagement. Artifacts for this area demonstrate a sense of efficacy as well as respect for diversity, justice, and equity.

Civic Knowledge

Involves the process of applying discipline-specific knowledge to civic engagement. Artifacts for this area demonstrate the ability to apply facts and theories from areas of academic study to civic engagement including my own participation in civic life, politics, and government.

Civic Skills

Involves the demonstration of engaging in a process to solve and increase the awareness of some civic problem. Artifacts for this area demonstrate the ability to collaboratively work across and within community contexts and structures.

Civic Action

 Involves continued commitment to engaged citizenship. 

The artifact for this area is a capstone that demonstrates the program and student competency. The reflection on the capstone demonstrates how the Civitas experience informs their plans.
